WHC & Hiline Email Changes for 2018
Dear customers,

First off, Happy New Year! We want to thank every one of our customers who have been with us for so many years! We can not thank you all enough! So, to start 2018 off, we have some great news for you.

In our continuing effort to provide you with secure, reliable and great WHC & Hiline email service, we will be upgrading our email servers. This is not just some small update to our current email servers, this is a complete rebuild from what we are currently using. Our current servers were built from the ground up, close to 20 years ago. Since that time we have been updating and upgrading them to have the most recent security protocols and features. Well, we're planning on moving away from our older, slower email servers to a brand new system that is faster, smarter, more secure and up-to-date with the email technology of today.

Now, for a bit of bad news... our server has been having issues the past few days and it seems like it's actually beginning to fail. This is not good because now all of our backups are failing as well and there is no way we will be able to recover email if it is lost. We do not know when the server will go down again, but we know it is soon. We're trying to be optimistic so everyone can get their email downloaded, saved and backed up, but we have no promises as to how long our server will stay up.

THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER.

Because we're moving away from this older email system, which uses its own propietary software for storing emails, folders and contacts. We are sad to say that we do not have the proper software to transfer your emails, folders, or contacts to the new system. Because of privacy issues, time and money, we cannot do this for you, our customers. So, what we need from you is to download/backup all of your emails and contacts for your account as soon as possible! That way, your email is safely in your hands and if you ever need to recall an email from the past, you have them at hand!

We will be leaving our old email server online for you to login, using SquirrelMail, and you can forward emails out to yourself and they will be delivered to the new email server. The old server will not be receiving any new emails once we make the switch- over to the new server. So, you'll have access to your old email, via the old server, as well as access to all new emails coming in, via the new email server. We will be making access to the old server via SquirrelMail very easy to get to from our webpage (www.whc.net) and also to how to get web access to our new webmail as well. (If you use a third party email program like Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird, then you don't really need to do anything to gain access to new emails. The only thing you need to do is to download your old email so you have access to it.)

With this new email server, we want to start fresh. We all have so much junk built up in our old system, this will help us get things rolling again, starting clean. This is 2018 and we should have fast, reliable and secure email. This change is good. We know you will enjoy using our new system and we can't wait until we have the system live for you to use.

So, when will we be making the change?

As soon as we can! We will be making the change here in the next few days... maybe the lastest, over the weekend. Starting the day we make the change, no new email will be delivered to the old email server, but to the new one. Now, we will be leaving our old email server up (like I had said before) until it lasts and hopefully after everyone gets their email downloaded and their contacts copied. You will be able to forward or download your old email. Again, the old email server will not receive any new emails. This will make the move easier so you won't have to be constantly playing catch-up with new email / junk email you receive. The new server will be receiving the new emails. We will also setup our system so you will not need to make any changes on your computers/devices. The incoming and outgoing hostnames will stay the same, as well as all the port information, usernames and passwords. If you do have any issues with your computers/devices after this switch, please let us know. We know there might be glitches here and there, so if you run into any errors, please let us know. Be patient with us as we all get use to the new system which has new features and functions.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we have thought about this long and hard and have been trying to figure out the best way to deal with this change for years. Now the time has come and we're actually being forced to do this now that our old server is failing. This is what we've decided to do. If you do not like these changes we're making, you're free to cancel your service with us at any time. Just call in and we'll close your account. No hassle. If you decide to stay with us, we appreciate you staying with us and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.
